18/3/04 Hope you had a good St.
Patrick's Day yesterday. For sure. As for Garlic, we are currently looking
into making a new video and busy working on the third album. When not
doing all that, a couple of us have launched some side projects. Rich can
be found in My Rocket 88, Mike has been recording with Stations of the
West and Sandra has been hanging with Lucky Saddle. Easy ridin', y'all !
And hola to all our new Spanish friends.
8/1/04 Happy New Year to you all. The
Chinese New Year is on January 22nd and this will
be the year of the monkey. After those celebrations have died
down, there's a great show coming up in February when we support The
Broken Family Band at the 100 Club on the 12th, and we know what good ol'
boys they all are.
6/11/03 Well, apparently the video
was shown on MTV2 one Sunday at the end of October. Did anyone see it? I
don't subscribe to MTV at all - which means to say that, with
regards to the TV in my house, we don't subscribe. Did I just say that?
You know what I mean and what I don't mean, I hope. Anyway, TopShop TV
were also showing the video so if you find yourself clothes shopping on
the high street one day (as I know our target audience demographic, the
XYZ123's, are apt to do !), you might just catch us on the overhead TV set
(looking decidedly short and dressed in baby-grows). If you're lucky.
Rumours abound that a version may soon be available on this very
website.......Lastly, thanks to everyone who attended any of our
current bunch of gigs. We love you. We surely do.
9/10/03 The band saw the video for 'A
Weird Wood Soul' last night for the first time and were very impressed.
For anyone familiar with Garlic's previous flirtation with the screen
(remember 'Slave To The Summer, Son'?), well, this one was done using
some HUGE cameras, let me tell you! It also has some nifty artwork or
animation or whatever they call it in the biz....
22/9/03 A Weird Wood Soul is released
today! Mark & Lard will be playing it this week on their radio show,
so I'm told. Check these fungis out Although, most likely, between the hours of 1pm and 3pm
(weekdays on Radio One) you'll probably be otherwise engaged. Allass.
18/9/03 Lights. Camera. Action! A
Weird Wood Soul is being put to video. We wait with baited breath on Adam
Jeal's directorial prowess. Meanwhile has anyone bought the album yet? Jam
Sabbatical is out now and some really good reviews are coming in....Mike's
off to record an acoustic session for Tom Robinson today for his Evening
Sequence show Mon-Thurs 7-10pm on BBC 6 Music. That's
digital radio, so check your TV or computer or digital radio set. By the
way, an mp3 of Face Down can be found on the songs page.
24/7/03 Thanks go to Nick Simms (of
Cornershop fame), who will be ably standing, or rather sitting, in
for me in Brighton, Nottingham and London while I'm away travelling
through time. The single 'A Weird Wood Soul' will be out 18th August
and we can't wait for the album to come out in September! A bigger tour
will be arranged for then and well, keep your eyes and ears open.....!
Enjoy your summer.
4/6/03 New single will be 'A Weird
Wood Soul' and you can hear most of the new album at the upcoming gigs in
London and Norwich. The Stoke Newington local fest-type affair looks
interesting. Our gig there at 'The Eye' on Friday 13th June (unlucky for
some) will reportedly be a live webcast as well! N16 Fringe 2003.....
12/5/03 Here comes summer,
doo-doo-do-do......The album is finally done. And sounds superb ! It'll be
called JAM SABBATICAL. Now, we're all debating which single to put out
first. This one, that one, or the other.....decisions decisions decisions,
love 'em or hate 'em, they have to be made. One thing or the other.
Kathleen or Marie. Jam or Sabbatical. There may be a few UK dates in the
offing (for us to practice the new songs live! ) - watch this space.
The album proper is set for release in August. That's it, I said, Jam
Sabbatical will be out in August! Tracks are:- A Weird Wood Soul/Kathleen
& Marie/Never Gonna Let You Go/Face Down/100 Miles/Forgotten/One Thing
or Another/Phil More/Waverley/Stenhousemuir of
Love.
24/3/03 What a great place Austin,
Texas and SXSW is! Just imagine good weather and a load of bars with beer
gardens out the back with a stage at one end ! Oh for the
outdoor life.....anyway, Garlic played at Friends which had an indoors
stage. It was still cool coz the stage backed onto the street and all the
french doors were open, and there was a large screen projection of
us at the back of the bar. Some of us have vowed to return next year!
Y'all take care now and mebbe we'll see ya'll at the 100 Club on 9th
April.
6/3/03 The new songs are reportedly
sounding great. Of course I think they're great, too. But then I would say
that, wouldn't I? As to the new album's release date, well, knowing how
long everything takes, let's stick my neck out and say.......THIS YEAR !!!
Ha. The band are all very excited about going to Texas next week
! It'll be yet another chapter in the Garlic History. Anyone
listening...?
8/1/03 Hope you all had a great New
Year! Garlic popped into theirs with news of a trip to Texas for a
show at the SXSW Festival in Austin in March! We're all very excited about that as you can imagine (as well
as the proposed tour of Spain), while trying to concentrate on the new
songs for the new album (which of course will include Waverley and
Kathleen & Marie)... keep warm in all this snow.....!
13/12/02 There is a radio show
in Germany hosting a Single/Album of the Year Voting Contest. If you would
like to vote for the "Not Over Yet" Single, follow this link before 16th
Dec J*A*L*A*L's PopScene Chart
2002. Otherwise, I can tell you about
another band with a lap steel guitar player (Dollboy), Garlic's
Brazilian radio & press, Mike's new songs and this Sunday's gig in
Brixton's Windmill with a great bill, including Dustball, The
Vessels, Antonia, The Crimea and Chris T-T.
25/11/02 The XFM session went really
well I think. John Kennedy should be broadcasting it soon I guess. The
band are also gearing up to record some brand new stuff!!! The second
album promises to be.......better oh so much better! The Arts Cafe gig
this Thursday seems to hold some fruit, Dollboy and Flotation Toy Warning
(great name) sound cool.....c u there?
11/11/02 Barcelona gig has been
postponed till February! Darn it!......Still, Mike did some
interviews for some Spanish press people last week and they seem to
be really into the band. Nothing wrong with that I s'pose. Personally, I'm
still coming down from the New York trip.........!
6/11/02 New York was FAAAANTAAASTIC
!!! I think everyone really had a good time on Garlic's first gig abroad.
It was a shame that technical problems meant that Jo didn't actually play
on stage with us at Arlene Grocery, but hey, what the hell ! Garlic
played a tight set (despite Jo's hitch which was always in the back of all
our minds), CDs were given out and we managed to fit in a photo
shoot on the freezing banks of the East River overlooking Manhattan.
Y'like dat? Huh, punk?
10/10/02 NEW YORK !!!! Bloody hell !
Well, we have a gig there at the CMJ
Music Marathon, which is kind of like a
massive In The City event. The venue we'll be playing is called Arlene Grocery and apparently
The Strokes played there twice a couple of years ago. And yes it used to
be a grocery shop.
3/10/02 We're all busy getting
excited about a session for XFM and checking our passports for some
shows abroad soon! Details to follow...
21/9/02 The 100 Club gig went pretty
well. Thanks to all who came. Enjoyed doing the Buddy Holly song. It was
very hot indeed down there and my cold/fever symptoms were simply
sweated out of me that night, I think. Sorry to any fans in Harlow.
Another date is being arranged I hear. Manchester
was.......well.......Manchester! Thanks to the drummer there for the use
of his kit. Ooh err missus. Some support slots coming up include one for
for a band called Idaho, who I think are from Los Angeles! Maybe they
thought California was a bit too "hackneyed" as they say....
4/9/02 Anyone been to the 100 Club before?
It's nice to follow in some famous footsteps (like The Sex Pistols, The
Clash, The White Stripes as well as Lonnie Donnegan and Muddy Waters to
name but a few). See you there on the 10th, garlic are on about
9:15pm. If you're after more info about the Pavement Tribute CD being
made in Italy, try the label's website at
www.homesleep.it/english/. It says it's due out at the end of this year and it'll be
called "Homesleephome3 - Everything is Ending Here, A Tribute to Pavement,
Double CD". And cheers to 'Whispering' Bob Harris on the old Radio 2 for
broadcasting garlic to the people! If Radio 2 is good enough for
Supergrass, then it's good enough for us.
22/8/02 Happy holidays? Things are gathering
apace in the garlic camp, including a
Sean Hughes acoustic session BBC Radio 6 Music on Sunday 22nd Sept at around 1pm, to
which you can listen online even! Also a support slot next week at The
Spitz to help launch a new album from Things in Herds and our gig at the
100 Club on 10th September. Roll on then......bye the way caught the new
single "Wheel Set" this afternoon on Radio 6 Music, when the dj commented
about the identity of the horse on the front cover........Shergar, maybe?
25/6/02 Mike and Rich did another acoustic
session last week for
The Selector show which
goes out all over the world! Talking of which there have been more excited
rumblings on the European continent about the album, which can only be
good, can't it?
11/6/02 Also being played on Radio 13 in
Lens, France by a guy called Emmanuel Stranadica! Nice name. And Phoenix
FM in Essex, and probably lots of other stations I don't even know about!
Cheers to everyone! As for last night, doesn't Mike do a great interview,
or what? Nice fretwork, boys. Especially after a verging-on-frantic day
rattling off a few tracks in the recording studio. One tune of which will
hopefully end up on a Pavement Tribute CD being produced by some people in
Italy, going by the name of HomeSleep. Other quite well known names have
agreed to appear on this CD and it all sounds quite interesting if
you ask me.......And a big hello to Hartlepool.
9/6/02 Tomorrow, we've got another acoustic
session on digital radio BBC 6 Music. It's on at 7.50pm- 8.20pm tomorrow
night, live on air for Tom Robinson's Evening Sequence show on BBC 6
Music.
Click here to listen online! Thanks to all who came to the Metro Club gig on Friday.
Especially Mike, our sound man, on his way back from his hols after
driving all through the night before....you are sound man.
29/5/02 Number 11 in Cambridge University Radio's Chart ! Not bad, I s'pose.
Thank you to all you deejays at BBC Radio 1 & 6 Music, BBC London
and N. Ireland, XFM, Welsh Radio Ceredigion, Scottish West FM,
Bristol's Star 107, Juice FM, Peak 107, and others, and all you
student radio people in Liverpool, Sunderland, Nottingham, Cambridge &
elsewhere........There's more music to come, you know! In the
meantime, the album "The Murky World of Seats" is working its wonky old
way to a re-release date of......sometime in August. It's got a brilliant
new cover pic. And excited rumblings are being heard in Italy and
Australia! Ciao, sport........
20/5/02 We got played by Radio 1's Session
in Scotland a couple of times (Thanks Vic & Gill) and an interview is
in the offing! Look forward to talking to you guys!.......The Independent
newspaper, anyone read that? Well, we got Single Of The Week on Saturday
(18/5). Don't know what they said yet as no-one I know buys the paper! (I
think that's still a good thing). Still we ARE widening our net from
the Album of the Week in the Teeside Evening Gazette from a while
back!.......Got some professional photos done the other day after years of
knowing that we should be getting them done! Thanks Andy........Seems
like AGES since the NME On Night gig........Been having problems with
my emails of late which should be all fixed today.......Had a great
time last night in loverly Cambridge at the Old Portland Arms, we
opened for Herman Dune, who were really rather good AND experimental, if
that's possible. I managed not to let my gammy leg affect the proceedings
too much. I've just had an operation to repair it, you see. So there may
have been some hi-hat inadequacies which only I should notice! Shame about
the dodgy kebab.......
7/5/02 Due to unforeseen circumstances,
tonight's Liverpool gig and the Birmingham and Leeds dates have had to be
cancelled until further notice. Our thoughts are with Josh of Lift To
Experience at this time.
30/4/02 ANNOUNCEMENT: Garlic are about
to step up to the bigger stage when they re-release the album "The Murky
World of Seats" on the Cocteau Twins' Bella Union label. After a chance
meeting with Simon Raymonde whilst doing a session for the Sean Hughes
show on BBC Radio 6, it was the Bellaunion boss' belief that our album
deserves to be heard by the entire world neigh the universe. And so the
Garlic/Bellaunion union was born. So if you own a copy of the album in
it's present Propylactic Records guise, hold on to it, cos you won't be
able to get it after this month. The album is being re-packaged and will
have the soon to be released single "Not Over Yet" to replace the original
album version. The single due for release on 27th May 2002 will be the
last act of Propylactic Records and we'd like to thank the little vehicle
for its wily ways. We had gone as far with Propylactic as our little
financial legs could take us and made many friends along the way. No
longer shall John Peel have to deal with the concept of the missing "H" .
Simon Raymonde and the Bellaunion clan believe this is the way forward for
Garlic getting their spunky punky poptastic downstroking lifesaving
deathgracing hymns to you, the deserving public. So lets pinch our noses,
hold our breaths and take the plunge together............
19/4/02 Great reception at Liverpool,
cheers! Especially the frustrated diner from the next room commenting on
our soundcheck ! - "I know all about soundchecks, me" - Well, it was back
in the van for the Bath, Glasgow and Brixton gigs, which all
went really well and we made some more friends along the way.....good to
see you all...the old ones AND the new ones. Early feedback from the
single is favourable....and now we're all really excited about supporting
Lift To Experience. Hallelujah !
19/3/02 Looking forward to the Liverpool gig
on Saturday....and the acoustic session on Sean Hughes' show on the new
digital BBC radio "6 Music" on Sunday 24th March between 1pm and 2pm. To
listen online,
"Not Over Yet" is scheduled for a 27th May release date and, well, listen
out for the promotional publicity....the b-side is a groovey, curious,
mashed-up remix of Wheel Set (No Sleep til Bedford) courtesy of the
Devereux Lounge.
12/2/02 Amazing! Would you believe that an
online reader of the Washington Post living in Maryland, USA has picked
Garlic's "Murky World of Seats" as one of his/her best CDs of 2001? In
there between Mr. Bird (?) and The Zephyrs? It really warms the
cockles.....! Plus there's a new album review on
Americana-UK. Check it
out....
23/1/02 A curious and short live review in
the nme...Consider being ON-kilter...just you consider that! Finished?
Well, after this spate of London home gigs, we'll be gearing up to venture
away again, y'know, see the country and all its glorious tarmac
arteries....and the various odorous water closets. Thank you. You know who
you are. Blither, blither....
22/12/01 Hope you all have a great Christmas
and New Year! Garlic will be back on the trail after these festivities at
the 3rd Annual Track & Field Winter Sprinter Series of gigs at The
Arts Cafe at Toynbee Hall, Commercial Street, London (See
gigs) which is over three
nights featuring The Toes, Dressy Bessy, The Loves, Saloon, Electrelane
and us, of course. Then we venture back to BRIXTON, scene of the great
Academy triumph of 2001, to chill out in the Twisted AM Lounge which is
only £2 entry and with a cheap bar, I hear! Last but not least, we have
the NEXT SINGLE out in early February 2002, a new version of "Not
Over Yet", that classic tune with attitude, and a curious, catchy and
strangely groovy remix of Wheel Set on the B-side. What's happened to the
vocals...? Keep warm, I find whisky very warming......
8/11/01 The "Music Expert" was A&R
Consultant for WEA London who said that Wheel Set was quirky, very
relevant to the current scene and that we should watch out for being
lumped in with Strokes-mania, among other things.... As for Nottingham,
see you there in a few hours...!
2/11/01 Guess where Garlic found themselves
last night? Sound in Leicester Square, deep in the heart of central
tourist-haven London...in a freezing cold venue doing what we
thought as a small favour by standing in as last minute saviours (not sure
to whom...). The strange, strange world of "Rock'n'Roll", eh? Bring
on the champagne and caviar, dahling!
30/10/01 Blimey, what's going on? We were on
Carlton TV last Thursday, when an A&R person gave a critical
review/assessment of Wheel Set (off the album). Does anybody know what
they said? Rich said he caught about the last 10 seconds of it and was too
busy recognising the sweet tones of Jo's keyboard going
"do-do-do-dooh.......do-do-do-dooh.....". The 2bdiscovered.com website
which should have all this online is actually a bugger to use, with a
lengthy registration, pop-up windows for everything and long wait times.
But I'll include the
link if you've nothing
better to do. You can also then check out the other bands being
reviewed.
14/10/01 Garlic's John Peel Session on
national Radio One will be broadcast on WEDNESDAY 24th OCTOBER from
10pm. If you haven't got a radio, you can tune in to the show
over the internet, if you've got RealPlayer installed. Just go to
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/alt/peel.shtml and click on the "Listen Live" button near the top. Four
new songs will be aired during Peelie's show (10pm-12am GMT) on that
Wednesday night, just two days before our Barfly gig at The Monarch. Happy
listening and see you there!
13/10/01 The New Order support gig was
brilliant ! Thanks very much guys for our biggest gig so far...
There was a little crowd of people there early enough to see us, as
in not just our mates (who probably had to pay over the odds for their
tickets), and not just our guest list people. Thanks to Alan for the good
words and thanks to Nick for being such a professional roadie ! We're not
worthy ! Anyway, I've checked out a couple of reviews and apparently Bobby
Gillespie was on stage for the encore...on the night BEFORE! And
Gillian, New Order keyboarder, made an appearance in Manchester! Never
mind. Maybe we'll catch them next time..???? It was a great experience to
walk out on stage, though, and we must have produced a couple of
brown stains between us.....Thank you Brixton!!! Still, onwards and
upwards........
9/10/01 Off to Sheffield now to support
Thirteen:13 at the Barfly there.......
28/9/01 Switch that to New Order's London
Brixton Academy date on Thursday 11th October. Sorry Scottish
fans.....still WOW !!
27/9/01 Hello New Order !! Latest gig is a
support slot with New Order up in Glasgow Barrowlands on Monday 8th
October !!! WOW!
26/9/01 The Peelie session went really
smoothly I thought, and we did some new songs which came off quite well,
even if I say so myself. The four songs are Waverley, 21, Kathleen &
Marie and Wide Open (sans drums). Listen out for them towards the end of
October on John Peel's show. Helloo Newcastle...!
17/9/01 Very excited about imminent Peelie
session this Sunday...will tell you when the session will be
broadcast on national Radio One soon....John Peel's show is 10pm-midnite,
Tue/Wed/Thur every week !......Which songs will we do...? You'll find out
when you tune in !!! We'll let you know when. Deep thought of the day:
Fatal malice is totally unnecessary.
29/8/01 Unfortunately, our gig in Camden has
had to be re-arranged due a Kerrang night taking precedence. Oh, baskets.
Anyway, our latest tour was a HOOT! We took to the camping sites of rural
England, and met some wonderful, cranky campsite owners! Still, quids in
and tents out, it was. Rich missed a true adventure. Pot Noodles at
midnite on the Trangea and all that...! And thank you to Hartlepool. Great
gig.
Crud Music Magazine interviewed Mike. Thank you for
buying the album, for coming to see us and there's more good stuff to
come.....watch this space. Bye the way, which songs do you think we should
record for the John Peel Sessions? Answers with reasons on a postcard,
please. Lastly, Newcastle, garlic are on our way. And Bristol, back we go!
We wanted to return sooner but were thwarted at every turn. D'ya like the
Site Finder facility?
21/8/01 The news is that Rich, our young,
gifted and broke guitarist has, in his own inimitable manner, fractured
his wrist whilst out in a drunken stupor. Unfortunately, this means that
we're not going to Nottingham tonight, because Jo was not going to come
and we would have been left with the bare bones of the garlic sound and
would have done ourselves no favours. So, Leicester, here we come, and
Leeds and Hartlepool. And Camden, Maida Vale, Newcastle and Bristol. Did
anyone hear us on Gary Smith's Bristol Uncovered on Star 107.3 (formerly
the Eagle) ? He played "Slave...". And that's not all, folks, John Peel
played "Pig" last week just before the "Pig's Big 78" slot. Hands up who
was listening?
9/8/01 Well, whaddya know...garlic will be
recording a session for John Peel at the end of September. We are
chuffed.
6/8/01 Well, thanks for buying the album,
all you fans out there! The gigs in Liverpool and Manchester were a
lot of fun, no, really. I managed to do some investigating/snooping
(trying to obscure the band T-shirt I was wearing) and found out that
Virgin Megastore in Liverpool have 5 copies! Marvellous. Remarkable, in
fact. Jo was with us all the time for this little jaunt, and I hope she's
not been put off by our band van personas....There's Marcus's Bowie
Karaoke, The Smokin' Ensemble, The Crippled Man and always The Sensible
One Behind The Wheel. For both these dates, we were pleased to have
Mike behind the desk doing a fantastic job with the sound, what a
pro......The Teeside Evening Gazette. Heard of it? No? Ah, well. The words
"week", "album", "of" and "the" come to my mind. Thanks Matt. Anyways,
hope to see you all sometime soon. Now, what's the quickest way to
Cardiff?
14/7/01 Looking forward immensely to
tonight's gig in Cambridge. Always a friendly reception there and a good
discerning crowd. Another appearance on John Peel's shows last week with
"Cour Gette" (sic) and "All in the Name of Fun" being played. Thanks John.
Can I call you John?...........It's true! It is possible to buy our album
in Virgin Music Stores all over the country! Probably cost 9.99. And you
get 13 tracks! Bargain of the........minute. Anyways, quite busy now with
gigs and promotional stuff. Lousy weather we're having, isn't
it?
19/4/01 The Leeds music scene is very much
alive and striving to flatter us! ....Still, we met some very friendly people in Liverpool,
Middlesbrough & Hartlepool and have been invited back, so will
endeavour to do so. And thanks to Andy for letting us stay over.
Album...fever...anyone??? No? Well, I hope you're all well and looking
forward to life this sunny springtime, especially all our friends here and
overseas. Oh, what the hell, here goes a provisional list of tracks on the
forthcoming album (The Murky World of Seats):
Wheel Set/Slave to the summer,
son/Pig/Doorstop Nominees/All in the name of fun/Little
Wreckage/Courgette/Grey Bear/Right Lines/Our Generation/Drink Induced
Conversations/Animals/Not Over Yet.
There.
9/4/01 I think I've just about recovered
from the Scotland tour. Made some more friends along the way. Fully
tested our new band van which did a superb job. Had a good gig in Glasgow
and saw the ship called 'Discovery' in Dundee. Thanks to all the kind
people up there who made it possible! And now, Liverpool & the North
East, here we come!
3/3/01 Thanks to Rob W Jackson for plugging
our gig during his set at the Shepherds Bush Empire! Brill. The album is
vaunted for a May release...(does that make sense?).
if you're in the mood...
20/2/01 Well, it's been quite a hectic few
weeks...what with a bunch of gigs and final recording sessions and a
webcast and parties and rehearsals and attending other people's gigs and
latterly, touring van complications !!! Aaaaarrrrgh!! Anyway, next
time you're anywhere in Scotland (ie. Glasgow OR Edinburgh, Highland OR
Lowland), keep an ear out for Garlic being played on the local
radio....the album will not make an appearance in February, evidently, but
watch this space....
9/1/01 Heartland FM !!! At least two songs
were featured on their show last Saturday night. Hello Perthshire! Glad u
like us. Also, garlic are reported being seen on a Jukebox in a Bristolian
pub...the meanfiddler live webcast on 22 Jan (8pm) will allegedly reach
the whole of Asia(!) via
now.com/mp3 TV...Oh and
happy New Year.
17/12/00 Good to see you all at our Garage
gig. Hope you liked our new songs. We're back there on 7th Feb of the
Happy New Year. And thanks for your support. Reportedly, a good thing that
we have is 'counterpoint'. Isn't that something to do with beds, or
bricklaying? Did you hear that Melody Maker and Select are gone bust??
Well, the lowly Loot actually started me off on the Garlic Way. And
as I've always said in all my interviews, I like to think that I have very
few NMEs (Sounds like...geddit?). Thanks for voting for us on
Clickmusic.co.uk, if
thanks is indeed owed. Being from planet sandra, as I am, I have been
marvelling at my first ever Xmas tree responsibility. It's true. Looks
quite nice. Bah humbug. Have a gay & merry Christmas (isn't it
fascinating how words evolvulate...)
28/11/00 Four track promo CD coming soon for
a taste of forthcoming album "The Murky World of Seats", due out Feb/Mar
time. Contains "All in the Name of Fun", "Pig", "Courgette" & "Not
Over Yet". Like the new-look website?? Warm, huh? Also, rumoured
appearance on clickmusic.co.uk soon.
1/11/00 Another play of "Slave..." by
John Peel on 31/10/00 to
ward off vampires no doubt. Hopefully, San Francisco's KZSU radio station
will be playing the single, too, in sunny Californ.I.A. Hi yoo guys! Good
to meet ya! GARLIC have had a couple of offers by remixing
DJs....hmmmm...dancey garlic...? And now for some gigs, gigs and more
gigs.....PS. And a big hello to Nick who has joined the garlic bandwagon
in a general sort-of-organising capacity. So do garlic have another gear?
Or will we go straight to warp drive ????
19/10/00 The video promo for "Slave To The
Summer, Son" is complete!!! Thanks Chi & Rob. The results will be
showing soon on this website....we have the technology......Rumoured album

5/10/00 Copies of our single may be bought
at http://fly.to/kino-eye
very soon.
25/9/00 A video of "Our Generation" is
winging its way to us & as soon as we can suss out how to put it on
the website, you will be able to view some movement as well as sound !!
A review
of us can be found where you can also vote Big Brother-stylee at
2bdiscovered.com. So please vote for us, it would be greatly appreciated. The Eagle
Radio Session will be broadcast when we're next playing down Bristol
way...
29/8/00 CD's selling steadily at
gigs...there are a few delays along the 7" single distribution line, sorry
people, if only we could take control, eh? Eagle radio (107.3FM in
Bristol) session takes place Mon. 4/9/00. Did XFM play us again? Check out

12/8/00 John Peel played 'Slave...'

5/8/00 There you had it! John Peel played
"Slave To The Summer, Son" that night (25/7/00) and said it was 'pretty
smart'.....More gigs flooding in this last week, so busy times
ahead.....we're doing more shoots of the video and recording some more
songs. May be we'll see you at some of the next gigs?
25/7/00Even more excited by a phonecall from
Mr John Peel himself, asking if he could play garlic on his show!!!!!!!!
So I'm off right now to listen to the radio, seeya.
23/7/00 We're all very excited at taking
delivery of our first singles and examining them closely. So 14/8/00 is
the final, final release date! Great! Already underway are promotional
activities and maybe, just maybe, you'll read about us somewhere or even
hear us being played somewhere........We're also recording more songs in a
home studio set-up. About eight tracks are in progress & early
indications are that they're masterpieces of lo-fi, spontaneously studied
(!) demos. There's a couple of brand new tunes & an old favourite of
everybody's called Not Over Yet. Garlic-flavoured, of course. And the
keyword for today is PRESS. Bye the way, thanks everybody for filling up
the guestbook. Bye the way, video promo is having a few rocky rides thus
hampering progress somewhat.
3/7/00 Knackered. Knackered knickers! Got
back from scotland last nite & just slept where I dropped. We did
loadsa driving in the van, & the gigs went well, made a few friends on
the way & got some great video footage (Thanks again Dave). Is anyone
out there good at organising & logistics planning coz we needed help
& when you've got a bunch of musos together it's a wonder sometimes
how we ever get anywhere..! Let alone on time! Great tour, lads 'n' lass.
When's the next one? Oh, one other thing, would YOU LEND another
drummer your cymbal stand?? I know I would, especially if you've already
BORROWED that same other drummer's WHOLE kit before at a previous gig.
23/6/00 The Newport gig at TJ's went ahead
and Swansea was quite eventful, what with some beefy Swansea heavies
celebrating the birth of a new baby, turning up at the end wanting to
play on drums! The student crowd were amazed when Mike indulged them,
launching us into a one-chord blues number...we barely escaped a brief
ugly moment. Luckily I was protected by a line of cymbals. One of the
quickest packing-up jobbies followed, I can tell you. Anyway, Bath saw us
returning to a usual gig situation, what lovely people! But we managed to
leave my snare drum there so back to Bath we must go...Thanks to
Shelbyville for all their help. Scotland, here we come!
7/6/00 Well, behaving just like a true
major, Propylactic Records are responsible for delaying the release date
of our debut single "Slave To The Summer, Son". I think we may be looking
at July for the earliest date. TJ's gig is proving to be a PA
nightmare....Anyone got a spare PA to lend us in Newport on 13/6/00
(which, incidentally, is our guitarist's birthday)???
1/6/00 What a carry on last nite! After the
gathering crescendo-cum-climax of the intro to Slave To The Summer, Son
(the opener), Mike's mic didna work!! Few seconds of "Wot the..." then
"Pause off" and carry on. Just like the true professionals we wannabe. And
then. "Wot keyboard?". She's hiding behind a pillar but, Jo, you were at
the soundcheck, weren't you? Great gig, Shelbyville & In Vein.
Loud, weren't they? Still, Thanks to Zoe for supporting the band and being
there last nite. Let's see what WALES has in store for GARLIC. Bye the
way, rumours of a promo video are
stirring.....strring.....stirring....string.....sting(!?)....singing.
31/5/00 Monarch gig has just been cancelled
due to footballing circumstances. England play Germany that night in Euro
2000.
29/5/00 It was a great feeling to play at
Stamford Bridge in front of 10-15,000 people, I can tell you. The Music
Industry Soccer Sixes, it was, see
their website for lots of pictures and reports.
It felt strange to play in broad daylight, tho'. For a change! Many thanks
to a new fan from the day, who e-mailed us her appreciation, and who is
from Essex (sorry, I don't know your name). Surely,
garlic have yet to scale ever more loftier heights,
with continued support and enthusiasm, 'endeavour and honesty', passion
and fervour...faith and commitment....er....ever improving songs and
musicianship.....Oy tink oy'll stop der
